Effects of cadmium sulfide nanoparticles on sulfate bioreduction and oxidative stress in Desulfovibrio desulfuricans

Abstract Sulfate-containing wastewater has a serious threat to the environment and human health. Microbial technology great potential for treatment of sulfate-containing wastewater. It was found that nano-photocatalysts could be used as extracellular electron donors promote growth metabolic activity non-photosynthetic microorganisms. However, also induce oxidative stress damage cells. Therefore, interaction mechanism between photosynthetic nanocatalysts microorganisms is crucial determine regulatory strategies microbial technologies. In this paper, regulation strategy cadmium sulfide nanoparticles (CdS NPs) on sulfate-reducing bacteria sulfate reduction process were investigated. The results showed efficiency increased by 6.4% through CdS NPs under light conditions. Desulfovibrio desulfuricans C09 seriously inhibited 55% due induced biomass enhanced 6.8% 5.9%, respectively, external addition humic acid (HA).
